Having trouble remembering where you put that file? Using a simple file naming convention for ALL of your files is the first step in organizing your space.

- use all lowercase letters, all the time
- never use spaces; in lieu of a space, use an underscore ( _ )
- date stamp everything you do- at least you can search for a date if all else fails
Here is an example of a file name using the rules:
20120815_biology1_syllabus = datestamp_name_of_file
*date stamp = yearmmdd
To rename existing files, simply right-click on the file name and choose, "Rename," or click once on the file, wait a second, and click once again directly on the file name (below or beside the icon), and you will be able to edit that text.
