Google Drive (Local on PC)
Google Drive is a service provided by Google. It allows for storage of your files and automatic backup to the internet (cloud). This "cloud backup" means that when you put files into this locally installed Google Drive folder, Google syncs or copies whatever changes or additions we make and stores them for us on their own servers, which is much safer than on our own computers.
This means that Google Drive has two components. What you see here is one component, the local one that lives on your computer. Chromebooks do not have this local component because they only have the ability to communicate with the cloud, rather than storing items to their own hard drive. A Windows or Mac computer can use this local component, though we do not utilize this part at school any more, you can feel free to install it on your home PC or Mac if you wish.
