GOOGLE DRIVE (WEB APP)
Google Drive is a service provided by Google. It allows for storage of your files and automatic backup to the internet (cloud). This "cloud backup" means that when you put files into Google Drive, Google syncs or copies whatever changes or additions we make and stores them for us on their own servers, which is much safer than on our own "local" computers.
This means that Google Drive has two components. One lives "locally" on the computer you install it on. This component lives on the web. Through this web app (short for "application") you can access your stuff from anywhere you have an internet connection. And, if you make changes, the next time you go to your local machine (where the other (local) Google Drive component lives), you will see those changes have been synced.
Our Chromebooks utilize this web app. Remember, nothing is actually stored locally on a Chromebook. It's all on the cloud.
