What: An RSS Feed (Rich Site Summary Feed); is used to publish frequently updated works like blogs, and news. Seeing the symbol to the left means that an RSS is available for the content you are viewing should you wish to subscribe to it.
Why: Works that are updated constantly are difficult for viewers to check and stay up-to-date; thus, an RSS Feed allows easy viewing of posts over a period of time from any computer or smart mobile device. (Similar to Twitter, only excluding the "social" aspect.) It creates a customized digest of various subscriptions that reader has chosen.
How: First, a reader must find and install a Feed Reader, or a vehicle through which the feeds will accumulate. Some browsers have feed readers built in, and other readers can be installed separately. Then, to subscribe to a site or blog's feed, simply right click the feed symbol (above) and choose "Copy link address." Then paste that address into your newly installed feed reader.
