Before featuring student work or pictures on your website, check the following list of possible considerations:
- Re-read and be familiar with the school/district policy on students' photos and other content online as well as FERPA.
- Communicate with parents/guardians/caregivers. Before publishing students' pictures, classwork, names, or any other information, clearly communicate your plans and intentions with families.
- If necessary, provide students and families with another copy of the district's policies, as well as the URL/web address of your site so that they can view updates frequently.
- Ensure that forms permitting or preventing a student's work, photograph, or name from being posted online have been correctly signed and are current.
- Avoid posting full names of students, especially accompanying a student's picture.
- Be aware of situations that may change a family/caregiver's stance on online posting, regardless of previous consent.
