On this very website! Bookmark it!!! News broke last week of a wide-reaching security vulnerability known as the Heartbleed bug. Heartbleed affects OpenSSL, which is used by the majority of web-based programs (like Prezi, Pinterest, Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, Yahoo, and others) to securely send data including usernames and passwords. This bug can compromise that data exchange and allow others to gain access to your username, password, and site activity for any online accounts you have that were affected. Our school accounts, including Google Apps email/education accounts ([email protected]) and STI were not affected. However, we all use other web-based programs both professionally and personally that may have been affected. To take proper measures, change your password for any online sites that were affected. Even though Doctopus looks like he eats at the Krusty Krab, Doctopus and Goobric are just the names of two Google Scripts that teachers should learn and love. See tutorial here Where to start??? www.todaysmeet.com/mrswebbSocial Media. Pinterest and Twitter are fantastic places to find ideas for your classroom. Sign into Pinterest or create an account and find me, (search "pinners") Lisa Webb (I used my school picture so you can find me), and follow me. Using your Chromebook (or Chrome browser if you don't have a Chromebook) be sure you're signed in with your "@cusd3.net" account, and follow the instructions below. If you see an orange link, click on it and read the content provided.
Each time you think about using a new tool with your students it should go through some evaluation process; whether a rubric like this one, or a process of your own. We do not want to waste our or our students' time with unengaging, busywork that just happens to be on a computer- we're looking for transformation instead of just substitution. Take a look at the SAMR graphic below and write a comment on this page (scroll down to comment/reply). Include one way you use substitution in your classroom already and one way you use one of the higher-order Engaging & Creating with iPads... this is a fun one!!
